বাসার ওয়্যারিংয়ে সাধারণত তিন মাপের কপার তার লাগে। নিচের টেবিলটা প্রচলিত নিয়ম; আসল মাপ ঠিক করবেন ইলেকট্রিশিয়ান — লোড আর তারের দৈর্ঘ্য দেখে।

রঙের নিয়ম (প্রচলিত): ফেজ লাল বা বাদামি, নিউট্রাল কালো বা নীল, আর্থ সবুজ-হলুদ। পুরো বাসায় একই নিয়ম রাখুন।

• কয়েলের গায়ে আরএম, “কপার” আর দৈর্ঘ্য (সাধারণত 100 মিটার) লেখা মিলিয়ে নিন।
• দেয়ালের তার কনডুইট পাইপের ভেতর দিয়ে টানুন, পরে বদলানো সহজ হয়।
• জয়েন্ট খোলা রাখবেন না — কানেক্টর বা ইনসুলেশন টেপ দিয়ে ঢাকুন।
• আর্থিংয়ের তার বাদ দেবেন না; 3-পিন সকেটে আর্থ লাগান।

সাবধান: মেইন সুইচ বন্ধ করে কাজ করুন। নতুন লাইন বা ডিবি বসানোর কাজ লাইসেন্সধারী ইলেকট্রিশিয়ানকে দিয়ে করান।

House wiring usually needs three sizes of copper cable. The table shows common practice; the electrician decides the final size from the load and the cable length.

Colours (common practice): phase red or brown, neutral black or blue, earth green-yellow. Keep one rule for the whole house.

• Check the coil label: rm size, “copper” and length (usually 100 m).
• Run wall cables inside conduit so they can be replaced later.
• Never leave joints open — use connectors or insulation tape.
• Do not skip the earth wire; connect earth on 3-pin sockets.

Caution: switch off the main before working. Have new lines or DBs installed by a licensed electrician.

একই বাসায় সাধারণত তিন ধরনের পাইপ লাগে: ঠান্ডা পানির, গরম পানির আর ময়লা পানির। ভুল পাইপ দিলে লিক বা ফাটল হয়, আর সেটা দেয়াল ভেঙে ঠিক করতে হয়।

• ইউপিভিসি/পিভিসি পাইপ জোড়া দিন সলভেন্ট সিমেন্ট দিয়ে; প্যাঁচের জয়েন্টে টেফলন টেপ পেঁচান।
• পাইপের গায়ে ব্র্যান্ড আর প্রেশার রেটিং/ক্লাস লেখা দেখে কিনুন।
• দেয়ালে ঢাকার আগে লাইনে পানি ভরে কিছুক্ষণ রেখে লিক দেখে নিন।
• ময়লা পানির লাইনে যথেষ্ট ঢাল রাখুন, না হলে পানি জমে।

সাবধান: গরম পানির লাইনে সাধারণ ইউপিভিসি পাইপ দেবেন না — গরমে নরম হয়ে জয়েন্ট ছেড়ে দিতে পারে।

A house usually needs three kinds of pipe: cold water, hot water and waste water. The wrong pipe leaks or cracks, and fixing it means breaking the wall.

• Join uPVC/PVC pipes with solvent cement; wrap threaded joints with Teflon tape.
• Buy pipe with the brand and pressure rating/class printed on it.
• Before closing the wall, fill the line with water and leave it a while to check for leaks.
• Give waste lines enough slope or water will stand.

Caution: never use ordinary uPVC on a hot-water line — it softens and joints can fail.

1. উৎপাদনের তারিখ: ব্যাগে তারিখ লেখা থাকে। যত নতুন, তত ভালো — বাতাসের আর্দ্রতায় সিমেন্ট ধীরে ধীরে শক্তি হারায়। প্রচলিত পরামর্শ হলো কয়েক মাসের মধ্যে ব্যবহার করা।
2. ব্যাগের অবস্থা: ছেঁড়া, ভেজা বা জমাট ব্যাগ নেবেন না। হাতে চাপলে শক্ত দলা লাগলে সেই ব্যাগ বাদ দিন।
3. ধরন: ব্যাগে লেখা থাকে — OPC (CEM I) না কম্পোজিট/PCC (CEM II)। কোন কাজে কোনটা, নকশায় বা প্রকৌশলীর নির্দেশে যা আছে সেটাই মানুন।
4. মান চিহ্ন: BDS EN 197-1 আর BSTI-র চিহ্ন দেখুন।
5. ওজন: ব্যাগ 50 কেজির; সন্দেহ হলে কয়েকটা ওজন করে নিন।
6. রসিদ: কোম্পানি বা অনুমোদিত ডিলারের চালান নিন — জোগানে সিমেন্টের রসিদ দেয় পার্টনার ডিলার।

রাখবেন কীভাবে: মেঝে থেকে উঁচুতে কাঠের পাটাতনে, দেয়াল থেকে একটু দূরে, পলিথিনে ঢেকে। খুব উঁচু স্তূপ করবেন না; আগে আনা ব্যাগ আগে ব্যবহার করুন।

সাবধান: ভেজা বা জমাট সিমেন্ট দিয়ে ঢালাই করবেন না। দরকারি পরিমাণ ঠিক করবে প্রকৌশলীর নকশা।

1. Manufacturing date: it is printed on the bag. Fresher is better — cement slowly loses strength with moisture in the air. Common advice is to use it within a few months.
2. Bag condition: reject torn, damp or lumpy bags. If you feel hard lumps when you press the bag, leave it.
3. Type: the bag says OPC (CEM I) or composite/PCC (CEM II). Follow the drawings or your engineer on which to use where.
4. Standard marks: look for BDS EN 197-1 and the BSTI mark.
5. Weight: bags are 50 kg; weigh a few if in doubt.
6. Invoice: buy on a company or authorised-dealer invoice — at Jogan, the partner dealer invoices cement.

Storage: off the floor on wooden pallets, a little away from walls, covered with polythene. Do not stack too high; use the oldest bags first.

Caution: never cast concrete with damp or lumpy cement. Quantities come from the engineer's design.
